About the Generals
Brock Men's hockey has enjoyed a rich tradition since 1965 when a group of committed players organized to form our first hockey team at Brock. On the bus to Trent University for the first-ever game they decided our name should be the "Generals" to honour the history of Sir Isaac Brock and the employees at General Motors in St. Catharines who agreed to pay cut contributions to fund the university. We remained the Generals until 1972 when the University re-branded to the Badgers.
Since then, we have been skating on the shoulders of the "Original Generals" to achieve great heights including four appearances in the University Cup National Tournament (2008, 2018, 2022, 2024) and we have had the thrill to watch three players reach the National Hockey League (Logan Thompson, Ryan Savoia, Darren Banks) and Connor Ungar sign a two-year entry level contract with the Edmonton Oilers. Of course, the Generals had the privilege to play with Steve Latinovich who signed with the Montreal Canadiens prior to joining Brock.
